An Experimental test of Hospital Admission Guidelines

The project consists in an anonymous survey experiment on hospital guidelines during pandemics, such as those indicated by the Commission Nationale D'Ethique. Hospital guidelines are there to regulate admissions and treatment in case of congestion. Such guidelines, however, are rarely discussed in the media and most people are unlikely to be familiar with them. We propose to ask respondents whether they agree or not with the ethical principles of such guidelines and which ethical principles they would favor the most. In particular, we ask them to read a number of hypothetical scenarios on ...

An integrative network-based drug repurposing approach for COVID-19

We aim at analyzing the publicly available transcriptomics data generated by exposing human lung epithelial cells to SARS-CoV particles and measuring the differences in the gene expression. We will use a molecular network analysis approach to identify a set of key genes, that represent key regulators in the SARS-CoV gene expression signature. This signature will be filtered to distinguish pathological from protective responses and used to identify drugs that could potentially reverse pathological features of the disease phenotype based on the anti-correlation of known drug-response gene exp...

Anonymity Preserving Self Reporting System

The idea is to provide citizens and residents of Luxembourg with a way to publicly and anonymously report the town they live in, upon testing positive for the corona virus. The resulting figure will be displayed on a map, either for government or public consumption. Allowing decision makers and/or individuals to better inform their actions.

CAILA - COVID-19 Artificial Intelligent Legal Advisor

We propose to build an artificial intelligent legal advisor that can automatically answer legal questions concerning the COVID-19 crisis and its aftermath via a conversational interface (chatbot). In these unprecedented times, people can feel overwhelmed by doubts and it's not easy to find someone that will answer: am I allowed to go help my old parents across the border? Will I have the right to unemployment benefits? Will my business be entitled tax relief? How and when do I need to file my documents with social security, tax administrations? What rights do I have as a cross-border worke...

CELL - Covid-19 pandEmic simuLator review for Luxembourg

Epidemic simulators are one of the essential tools for understanding and combating epidemic crises. They could assist researchers in better understanding the functioning of the dissemination process, but also empower decision-makers to try and assess different policies. In particular, they should be able to help with the projection of patient numbers, epicenters identification, intervention plan analysis, and resource management measures. With Covid-19, it is therefore required to assess if the existing simulation tools and the newly built/upcoming ones rely on realistic-enough propagatio...

CORONA APP

Tracking and data management: The project is to develop a method for monitoring, identifying, and predicting geographical clusters in which the coronavirus is prevalent and will likely spread, by tracking symptoms throughout Luxembourg.

COVAMBU: Multi-centre, adaptive, randomized trial of the safety and efficacy of treatments of COV...

The purpose of this Multi-centre, adaptive, randomized trial is to provide substantial evidence on the efficacy, or lack of efficacy and safety of treatments available in Luxembourg, given to COVID-19 positive-testing-patients who do not yet require hospitalization. Efficacy will be assessed through virological response and clinical outcomes.

COVID-19 and Neurturin

SARS-Cov-2 is a coronavirus is at the origin of the current COVID-19 pandemic, which poses a global and significant threat to public health worldwide. Although several treatment modalities have been evaluated, none has allowed a therapeutic breakthrough until now. New treatment modalities are therefore urgently needed. We have previously described that neurturin, a member of the glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor family, expressed not only as a growth factor in the nervous system but also the immune system, displays clear anti-inflammatory properties in mouse asthma models. Indeed,...
