Real-time Social Distancing Analysis
The idea of this project is to analyse if the Social Distancing measures decided by the government are being respected by the general population. To do so we propose to analyse anonymised video data in the City of Luxembourg.
Investigating hindbrain infection by SARS-CoV-2
Emerging reports suggest an infection of the hindbrain, which e.g. regulates the unconscious breathing process, by SARS-CoV-2. Some patients report that they have to breath actively/conscious. We suggest to use hindbrain organoids, infect them with the virus, investigate phenotypes and test candidate small molecules.
The Covid19Impact Survey: Assessing the COVID-19 Pandemic in Luxembourg via 25 questions in a cit...
The COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented in modern times and will be intensively studied world-wide for decades to come by scientists, governments and industry. Data collected during the initial period of the pandemic, particularly high-quality datasets, will be crucial understanding its development, and will impact decision making for many years to come. Therefore, unless this data is quickly collected, it will be irretrievably lost for further study. We are ready to deploy a large-scale survey to get feedback from the citizens of Luxembourg in four key areas related to the COVID-19 pandemi...
Monitoring system for epidemiological exposure person to person
In case of epidemics, where human contacts are the main vector for spreading a contagion, there is a need to track human mobility patterns and interactions in order to trace back how an infected person interacted with other people over a certain time moment.
CORONA APP
Tracking and data management: The project is to develop a method for monitoring, identifying, and predicting geographical clusters in which the coronavirus is prevalent and will likely spread, by tracking symptoms throughout Luxembourg.
How much do respirators protect healthcare workers from COVID19?
In the context of the current Covid-19 pandemic, it became clear that while performing treatment procedures on contaminated patients, medical personnel could be exposed to SARS-CoV-2 virus. Respirators (intended to protect the healthcare workers) provide a tight seal with the face of the wearer, and must meet rigorous standards on high filtration efficiencies and rigorous certification. In Europe, respirators such as FFP1, FFP2 and FFP3 are certificated by 'Conformité Européenne' (CE) in order to meet filtration efficiencies of 80%, 94% and 99% against particles of 0.3µm, respectively. Taki...
Low-cost breath sensors for SARS-CoV-2 for home usage
Based on our research on liquid crystal droplets and shells demonstrating their responsiveness to specific substances in their surrounding, e.g. lipids, I would like to explore the possibility of making low-cost tests for SARS-CoV-2 that people can use in their home. We also make polymer fibers in our labs, and by using the right polymer, we can make a filter that a persons breathers through (mounted in, e.g., a face mask), and then the filter is dissolved in water, which is the natural surrounding for our liquid crystal droplets and spheres. If viruses have been caught in the filter, they ...
Spark Project- Sharing cultural Heritage
An invitation to individual and community to share a component of their culture through a short web post. It will help people who receive it to open themselves to other realities. A recurring post proposiition will create a feeling of journey by staying in quarantine. It will help to soft better the current hard time. In some way to give hope in the future and refrain fearing the stranger.
