Toward alternative geographies of Luxembourg's relational urbanisation (ALTGEO)
This project seeks to explore the particular challenges of the COVID-19 disease for the relational urbanisation of Luxembourg and aims to identify possible alternative geographies for the Grand Duchy. It acknowledges the need to develop strategies for mid- or long-term adaptation to COVID-19 and associated policy measures, and will therefore focus on the geographical dimension of the problem. In our previous GLOBAL research project (C15_SR_10352117), we approached Luxembourg as having undergone relational urbanisation. Cities are relational in their ability to extract streams of profit from...
Public Check-In
This project aims to design and prototype 'Public Check-In', a governmental tool to help the safe exit from a pandemic lockdown while preserving citizens' privacy. 'Public Check-In' is a KPI-based system for quick, secure, and privacy-oriented communication of potential contacts with people who tested positive against nCOV-19, and it should be enforced during the limited of the pandemic situation. It proposes a novel architectural approach both to track sensitive and linked information and to provide targeted notification while protecting the users' privacy rights. The digital system wi...

Real time data input will provide situational awareness. Simulations will support planning and crisis management by considering population behaviour as well as de...
COVID19-induced changes to the plasma proteome
Studies focussing on human coronavirus found so far seven different viruses including SARS, MERS and COVID19. SARS, MERS and COVID19 present with various flu-like symptoms up to respiratory distress. Secondary symptoms include kidney problems, cardiovascular problems and neurological signs, like headache and nausea. In the case of the SARS infection, it has been shown that the virus can invade the central nervous system in patients and laboratory animals. The infection of epithelial cells by a coronavirus will lead to a change of the cellular protein composition in response to the virus' ...
Yes we care - Oral history with health workers in Luxembourg
While the social and economic consequences of the Covid pandemic cannot yet be determined, there is no longer any doubt that it is a 'historic event'. The C2DH has therefore embarked on a collection of different sources that are currently being produced. A team has begun to collect testimonies from people working in the medical and health care sector. The pandemic is indeed shedding light on how the hospital and care systems function. Flattening the curve in order to allow the health system to cope with covid19 was, and is, one the defining slogans of the pandemic. The project, which has...
